Way to not take responsibility!
Something crazy happend today at work. It was just like any other day the boss and I were in the truck on our way to paint over some grafitti on the dumpster behind Stater Bros. In the parking lot we passed what looked like to be a simple fender bender that had occured recently. The two people involved seemed to be working it out, one of them was on the phone. As we drove past we could hear her saying," I got hit!" We didn't think much of it. Oh, yeah the vehicles involved were a mid sized sedan of some kiind and a brand spanking new suv, looked like a nissan or something like that. The person who we heard on the phone apparently owned the suv. We drove on to our target and started painting. The boss walked off to check on something and I continued to paint the side of the dumpster wall. While painting I heard a car driving around the corner toward us, again I thought nothing of it and kept on painting. The car I heard never drove past me along the back alley way behind the Stater Bros and I heard some loud reving of an engine. Looking up and behind me I say the same suv that we had passed earlier, the one that was part of the small accident, backed up against a light post. The driver was reving the engine apparently trying to damage either their car or the post somehow. After a few seconds the driver pulled forward a bit, got out and looked at the damage to their vehicle got back in and drove away past me. I was confused. I can't imagine that something like this coudl have happened on accident so I figured the driver was purposely trying to damage their vehicle. Once the boss got back I told him what I had seen. We thought that this driver of the suv was trying to make it appear as if they had been hit from behind. We didn't know for sure was they were thinking but we imagined that whe sould claim somebody hit them, causing them to hit the sedan and that the person who allegedly hit them in the first place took off. First off, we knew this kind of thing wasn't right. Insurance fraud never is. Secondly this driver had done damage to the light post and since we worked for the company that managed the entire property it was decided that we needed to do something about this. The Boss pulled around to the front again back to the place the accident happend and as we got there so did a police officer. We parked next to the scene of the accident and after the officer had talked with the two people involved the boss asked to speak to the officer. He came over to the truck and we related what we had seen. The officer was suprised and understood our conern. He called for back up and when ther other officer arrived we showed the damage on the light post to him and gave him a statement as a witness. The driver of the suv tried to interupt us talking to the officer once and after the officer had explained to the drivers what we had said the suv person tried to come over to us asking why we would say such things about them, and we didn't even know them and various things. Before they could say too much the boss just told them to stay away and talk to the officer. The whole thing was just interesting. We didn't press any charges for the minor damage to the light post but the officer asked us if we wanted to. I was just amazed that this woman would try to commit fraud like this. She must have been uninsurred or something, I don't know. It mostly likely have been better for her if she wouldn't have tried to damage her own vehicle and all that... but who knows what people think. The whole situation got me thinking on how it is kind of a natural reaction to want to resist or avoid taking responsiblilty for a mistake. It is always better though if we do own up to our mistakes and take responsiblity. Its a lesson we all could take something from I guess. Oh well, crazy stuff.

A Story
I read a story about a kingdom long ago. This kingdom was large and prosperous and lead by a great man. The king taught the people to do what is right, to work hard, to be generous to each other, and to be independant. When the king grew old and ill he called all his people together to one city and there he built a tower and standing ontop of it gave his final address to his people. He reminded them off all he had taught them and encouraged them to always remember what is right and do it. The king then named his son as his heir to the throne and died a couple of years later.
The new king was a just man. He lead his people in righteousnes. He was also a great leader, he didn't seek power. He was even reluctant to take the throne. In office, instead of taxing his people so he could live a lavish life style he worked his own farm with his own hands to provide for himself so he wouldn't be a burden on the people.
I am amazed at this youg kinds dedication to his people. He himself didn't even want to be a burden on his people so he worked to keep the taxes low. Oh how our country today could use a man or woman in office who could lead like this king of old. Our government is spending too much money, money that doesn't belong to them, money that belongs to us. They are taxing us too much, reaching for powers where they shouldn't and all aroudn growing too big for their britches. It needs to stop. Somehow.

A Fall?

I found this video very disturbing. The whole idea that obama would regulate the ever loving crap out of the insurrance companies so that nobody could afford health care is... well, I think its evil. He would get his proposed health care plan sure, if we all come crawling back complaining how expensive healthcare is and begging for a government run health care plan but is that what he really wants? Is his goal simply to put this health care plan into motion? I would submit that there is a reason hiding behind the healtchare bill. I think that reason is control. By passing a bill like this, however the eventually do it, the government would control a bigger part of the economy.
By controlling a bigger part of the economy they would of course be controlling more money. If the government keeps getting more control and taking more and more choice away from the citizens eventually we will have a tyranical regime on our hands and those are generally very very bad. In my mind its just evil!

Trouble
Its a fact of life, every person is going to have trials and troubles in their life one way or another. That is just how it is! It is not possible for life to be trouble free because if we never had trials or hardships we wouldn't know what good times were. We wouldn't be able to realize that we were happy because we wouldn't know unhappiness. You can't have one without experiencing the other. I think if more people understood this then we would be better off as a country.
So many people have an entitlement mentality, which is not productice at all. To me it seems weak to cry and complain about your problems and to expect others to fix it for you. Really, the only way to fix your problems is to do something about it yourself! Relying on the government to fix your lost job or to fix any of your mistakes is bad for you. When we have problems in life and have adversities to face we have to stand up and face them. Go out and work hard to get a job! Take responsibility for your actions whatever they may be. You did it so don't try to blame it on others. It saddens me to see this kind of thing in our country. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect. I'm sure I'm guilty of this sort of thing, heck who hasn't been at one time or another? The thing to do though is to realize you did something wrong and do something about it. Change your ways work at taking responsibility.
The only way we are going to learn as people and get stronger as a people is to accept the challenges and problems we face and do something about it ourselves! Seriously!

Gone are the Days
A while back I read a book about the life of James Stewart entitled Bomber Pilot. Needles to say the book focused mostly on Stewarts service in WWII as... you guessed it... a bomber pilot. Think about this for a minute.
Who was James Stewart? Before WWII and after he was a fairly popular movie star, made several films, lived in Beverly Hills and all that. By todays standards what would we expect from a popular male movie star when a war started? I don't have any quotes so I won't try to put words into any persons mouth but I would imagine that a celebrity of today would not have acted in any way like James Stewart did, a celebrity of the past.
At this time in history, around 1940, our country had implemented the Selective Service Bill or the "Draft". Being a male between the ages of 20 and 36 James Stewart was given a draft number. When his number was called he reported and due to a lack of weight was not elegable to join the army. I would imagine that if for some reason this same set of circumstances happened to a celebrity today they would go home and forget about it. They would most likely keep making movies and living their life not worrying about the war. I bet they would have been happy to have escaped the clutches of war service. Mr. Stewart however went home and ate all the food he could over the next couple days and went back to enlist in the army air corps. That right there shows some real patriotism. Instead of accepting an easy verdict of being to light for service in the army he did something about it and made it into the air corps to serve the country. He actually wanted to serve his country. We all look up to celebrities, I think we need some celebrities like Stewart who once said," It may sound corny, but what is wrong with wanting to fight for your country. Why are people so reluctant to use the word patriotism?"
I admire this man for his patriotism and willingness to serve his country in a time of need despite all the reasons he had not to. He is a great example of how a patriot acts.

Standards
Keeping standards is something that I feel is important. In all things, not just politics. There should be certain things that we don't do. Certain rules to the way we act, argue, and treat others. I mean, if we expect our government to have standards, we the people should have standards aswell. I don't know what they should be exactly but I do know they should probably include politeness and civility. Sure many of us conservatives are upset about what our president is trying to pass right now and are probably just as upset about the general state of affiars in the government. I think however that no matter how bad things get we should still hold to standards in the way we act and treat others. I mean, we are all in this together as citizens of the United States of America and the first step towards making things better is to keep our standards, or at least that is what I believe. God bless America, its citizens and leaders.

1984
If anybody remembers reading George Orwell's 1984 in high school then this article might just prove to be a bit intriguing.

I think its a big scary to be quite frank.
